ITHEMBA is the Xhosa word meaning HOPE

• It is a holistic child care programme consisting of family units specifically developed for orphaned children especially those who have had the tragic and life-altering experience of losing one or both of their parents to AIDS.

• It is a community where our young underprivileged generation can be cared for and educated in order to give them the best possible opportunity to become the leaders of tomorrow It is about enabling and empowering them to make a significant and lasting impact on the future of South Africa.

• ITHEMBA is about looking after the children, not by putting them in an institution but by placing them in families.
